chess table

1. "Chess Table"

We will use a table saw and fine-grained cherry lumber to make this classic chess table, suitable for any time period. The parts for the game board are from rosewood and holly and will be applied to the table. The tapered legs will be cut on the table saw, as well as sides, back and mitered border. Makin’ and fittin’ the drawer will follow, including the delicate custom turned drawer pull. Beginners are welcome! 1-1/2”L x 1-1/12W x 2-1/4”H Minimum Skill Level: Beginner 1” scale.

Please bring cutting mat, general workshop supplies, lighting and magnification as needed.

2. "Magnolia Tree"

Join Arlene in making a Magnolia Tree. Students will receive a 6” tree ready to complete. They will be taught how to construct the magnolia flowers and leaf the tree. Students will have a choice of pots.

Please bring a cutting mat; all the other tools will be supplied by the instructor. Don’t forget lighting and magnification if you need it.

3. "Knitted Gingerbread Man"

Join Helen in knitting a gingerbread man. He is a little man for under the tree or in a Holiday Scene. You will receive thread, needles and a pattern and lots of instruction. Easy knit for beginners – just straight knitting.

Please bring, lighting and magnification if you need it.

4. "The Cowboy"

This kit includes pattern and instructions, precut fabrics, and extras.

Supplies needed: small scissors, a washcloth, Aleene’s tacky (gold bottle), glue syringe, alligator clips, sewing needle and pins. Anything you don't have let me know ( ellensworld1986@gmail.com ) and I'll bring extras. Lighting and magnification are always helpful.

5. "Hurricane Lamp"

Students will learn the difference between soft and hard soldering. With their handheld butane torch, students will practice on Ron’s signature hurricane lamp. This will include brass working to assemble a working porthole and gimbol candle. Students will also use a Dremel to polish their work.

Please bring a cutting mat, smock, Dremel, handheld butane torch and eye protection.

6. "Dremel 101 Sealife"

Students will learn to use their Dremels to whittle wood, drill a hole, grind and polish brass. Beginners to the tool are encouraged to take this class before exercising it at home. Class includes safety lessons, use and maintenance, and lots of practice.

Please bring a cutting mat, smock, your Dremel, dust mask and eye protection.

7. "Potting Bench/Cabinet with Accessories"

Construct a 1" or 1/2” Scale rustic wood potting bench with hinged pull-down bin, 2 drawers, and various accessories as time allows. An aged finish is planned as pictured, but you can bring your own paint or stain if a different finish is preferred. Plant pots are made on the 3D printer.
Techniques: construction, finishing, accessorizing.

General tools needed: work mat, square, gluing jig, painters tape or clamps, rag, emery board or fine sandpaper and glue. An OTT light and magnification are always helpful.
